So the Rokfrom Wireless Clear Case is one of the biggest cases I’ve reviewed recently. For good reason though because this case is CHOCK full of extra features.

Well. Four. But they’re pretty good features. Most of them are a result of all the magnets on the case.

BUT when it comes to case with magnets, Qi-charging is going to be an issue and mounting systems on cases usually result in extra bulk so using iPhone becomes a little tougher.

So who should get this case? Basically anybody who needs to mount their iPhone securely to a moving vehicle.

At MREH, Monty and I base all our reviews on actual usage. Get a case. Use the case. Review the case. Make a video.

The Rokform Wireless Clear case is a beast of a case. It will add ~6mm to both the thickness and width of your iPhone and a weighs a whopping 88g. You’re basically adding 25% extra weight to your device. Remember the Tech 21 Remix in Motion case? That was only 30g…

The edges of the case do taper in towards the middle which alleviates part of the cases mass...

Now despite all this bulk, this case is marketed as being Thin and light and it won’t weight you down.

The overall build quality and design of the product is top notch. The corners are primarily TPU, the back is PC, there is a microfibre back at the bottom and the iPhone sits cradled in TPU as well. The only thing that caught my eye was the sloppy seam on the outside of the case.

The iPhone fits in well in the case, in fact, taking your iPhone in and out of this case is quite difficult BUT that’s a good thing when you consider what this case is meant for. The case won’t slide around easily on the front or back and and the overall texture of the case isn’t bad, not great, but not bad.

When it comes to iPhone access, I generally didn’t have any issues other than using it with one-hand. Button access is average, the port cutout is large and the camera cutout doesn't have anything shiny. For flash bouncebacks.

Now the case comes with Rokforms “innovative Patented RokLock Quad Tab Twist Lock mounting system” which is this circular tooth looking thing. In order to use that feature, you need to remove the plug on the case and the best place to store this loose piece, is to use it as a fridge magnet.

To mount the iPhone, you align the teeth to the mount and twist. And Lock. Rokform’s system does look mildly similar to the locking system on the Quad lock but is smaller. No, I’m not implying anything…

Rokform has a plethora of different mounts for a variety of different vehicles so pick your poison. I will note that with the Car Mount, it doesn’t have a sticky so you can’t mount it on your dash, it has to go on the windshield.

Now if you wanted to use the grip mount, you need to go back to the fridge, get rid of your kid’s drawing and snap the plug back in. It’s either or, you can’t have both.

I will note that these magnets are strong. A quick compass test shows that the magnets won’t interfere with the gyros BUT I’m always a little weary with magnetic cases so the compass test is one thing but how about the camera and all the stabilization stuff that goes on in there? I will note that this setup here, will render your Qi-charging capability useless.

Now there is a second magnet near the bottom of the case and that isn’t quite strong enough to keep the iPhone 11 Pro Max upright on the fridge and is too low for you to use it with the vent mount. So I’m not sure why it’s really there.

The final extra feature is the ability to add a lanyard. Might be a good thing for this case given the bulk. If you have a lanyard laying around.

When it comes to protection, this rated to Mil-Std 810G. The back of the iPhone is going to be well protected with the PC back and the cradling of the TPU. The front of the iPhone will be ok unless you happen to drop it at the right angle where the corners pop off.

How does it look when it takes a drop?
