iOS and iPadOS apps have unrestricted access to the Universal Clipboard. This allows a malicious app running on the iPhone or iPad to capture what users copy to the clipboard on a nearby Mac. This video illustrates how a malicious app installed on an iPad can snoop on the clipboard of a nearby Mac. That is, everything being copied on the Mac can be captured by the malicious app. For this demo, we built a proof-of-concept app called KlipboardSpy that mimics a malicious app. KlipboardSpy uses its widget to capture the content of the clipboard.

macOS 10.15 and iPadOS 13 were used in the demo.

The scenario is made clearer thanks to your feedback.
