iFixit ranks replacing the battery in a Retina MacBook Pro as one of the most difficult repairs. Kay-Kay ranks herself a “novice fixer” having only repaired iPhones, one Switch joycon, and her 2012 MacBook Pro. Since we know Kay-Kay has a tendency to get colorful when frustrated, we thought it might be fun to have her tackle this repair—we also wanted to show her (and you) that even “novice” fixers can learn to fix anything.
Today she’s doing a DIY battery replacement for a 13” 2015 Retina MacBook Pro using an iFixit battery kit. These batteries are totally glued down to the upper case of the computer and replacing them is one of our least favorite repairs ever.
She’s also tackling recording from home for the second time so apologies for the static on her mic—she’s using a 10 year old MacBook Pro to record and she might have dropped it in her last repair.
