WARNING: If you are looking for a technical review of MacBook computers with tests, graphs and comparisons, this video is not for you, sorry. I don't really do traditional tech reviews (computers, smartphones, tablets, etc.) for my channel unless it's directly related to my photography or video workflow. I get a lot of questions about what computer I use to edit my videos and photos, so here is my story.

My Macbook Pro 13" from 2015 has been my constant companion while working from home, studio, or traveling. I love all the ports, the beautiful 2560 x 1600 retina screen and I made sure it had enough ram (16gb) and hard drive space (512gb ssd) to make it last. However, the past couple of years I've felt it's age. Photoshop and Lightroom were struggling, especially with larger files. iMovie was also struggling, and I couldn't have multiple apps open at once that were CPU and GPU hungry.

I've wanted to replace my Macbook Pro since 2018 but I truly despised the butterfly keyboard and was waiting for a refresh. The new magic keyboard started appearing in 2019, but then I started hearing rumours about the new M1 chip. I was also considering replacing my laptop with an iMac and use the new iPad 12.9" as a laptop replacement. Which way did I go?
