The iBook Clamshell was the first laptop released with built-in WiFi as we know it today. It has a 300MHz PowerPC G3 processor and can accept up to 544 or 576MB of RAM, depending on how much RAm came soldered on the motherboard. The iBook had the ATI Rage Mobility graphics processor, which was at the time industry leading, which was quite special for a consumer notebook computer. The graphics processor was paired with a LCD display, which had a resolution of 800x600 and was at the time very high quality. You could get the iBook with up to a 6GB internal hard drive. All iBooks came with a built-in CD-ROM drive. Later models of the clamshell made the notebook faster and better across the board. In May 2001, the Clamshell was replaced with the iBook G3 “Snow”, which had a much more standard design.

Here are the specs of my clamshell:
300MHz PowerPC G3
192 (I think) MB of RAM
6.49GB IBM hard drive that I installed myself to replace the 3GB one.
Mac OS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.2.8 “Jaguar”
Mine doesn’t have an AirPort card. I also have a clamshell in Blueberry, which has more upgrades, so I swapped my Tangerine’s card into the Blueberry to give it another upgrade.
