The great equalizer for every human life is death. Every human being, no matter their wealth, status, race or belief, will die. However, the Prophet Muhammad (ص) and the great Sufi sages sought to "die before death": that is, to "die" to one's lower, egoistic self, and to awaken to our hidden, divine potential. This immense journey, they teach, is the highest aim of our existence. And in order to achieve this reality, many lived a life of reflection and spiritual seclusion ('khalwa'), away from the busyness of worldly life. Bismillah, let's begin, insha'Allah.
