It's true! You can add Thunderbolt to your MacPro 5,1 with the Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge Card!
This should work on 2008, 2009, 2012 MacPros. I will test it on my 2008 too and see if it works. There is also the potential this type of thing could work on Ryzen or Windows machines that don't have Thunderbolt.
