My daughter's 2017 Mid year Macbook Pro 13 inch two thunderbolt port A1708 ran out of space (we only got the 128G SSD). Fortunately, I found that this is one of the last macbook pros you can change the SSD on! Apparently you cannot change the SSDs on the Touch bar models or any Macbook that is more recent , as they are soldered onto the logic board.

BEFORE YOU START
1) make sure to find out what format is your current SSD (ours was APFS) . After you install your new SSD, you will need to use Disk Utilities to format it to the same format!

2) make a Time Machine backup of your current SSD (or make a clone) onto an external drive

3) Buy a new SSD and adapter(if necessary), I bought these:
SSD:
Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2242 DRAM-Less Low Power Internal High Performance SSD (SB-1342-1TB)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XVTRFF8/

Adapter:
Sintech M.2 NVMe SSD Adapter Card for Upgrade 2016 2017 13" MacBook PRO A1708 Non-Touch Bar Models(Late 2016-Mid 2017 Year)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B86CDDC/

4) You will need the following tools (kits are available on Amazon. I happened to have them at hand)
5-Point Torx Plus 1.2 (pentalobe compatible) screwdriver (for the screws on the oustide)
T5 1.5 (for screws inside)
Suction cup
Anti-static wristband (probably a good idea https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DM0E7BM/ )
