Many people are not familiar with swap memory and it's effect on storage drives. The new 2020 M1 Macs are blazing fast, even when maxing out RAM usage. However, this new generation heavily utilises swap memory - or using the SSD as a temporary memory dump for when the RAM is overloaded.

Over time, this could have a POTENTIAL negative effect on your internal SSD drive, so make sure you choose wisely before making the decision between 8GB RAM vs 16GB!
