I like the Zagg Rugged Book Go. I like it better than the Slim Book Go. Between these two products, I can’t think of one reason why you would go with the Slim Book Go.

It's going to be tough to decide which product I like better between the Logitech Slim Folio Pro or this Zagg product.

Zagg’s iPad keyboards are different. They’re generally well thought out from my perspective. Zagg approached their line of iPad keyboard products from the perspective of how can I add value instead of how can I turn the ipad into something it’s not.

They were going strong until they reach the buttons because these things are terrible. It’s so hard to press! The only thing that doesn’t set me off is the fact that everything I can’t do with the buttons i can do with the shortcuts.

At $150 dollars, this case is one of the more expensive one’s I’ve reviewed. The keyboard attaches to the ipad case magnetically but unlike the Slim Book Go, the magnetic latch is way better. The iPad doesn’t feel flimsy when it’s setup in keyboard mode.

I had no issues with accessing the camera or the port and like the Slim Book Go, the sounds gets projected forward instead of the side.

Using the iPad by itself is great as the case has a slight angle to it so you’re not necessarily hovering directly over the iPad. The Rugged Book Go only has one place to store the Apple Pencil and really, who needs more than one?

The large hinge on the back of the case is spectacular. There isn’t any set viewing angles so you can set it up any way you like. I like to FT my family and being to setup it up in portrait mode is great.

Now I have two gripes with this case. The first is that using the home gesture gets mildly annoying because of the large hinge. Swiping through your apps is going to be frustrating because your fingers will rub on the inside edge of the hinge.

The second gripe that I have is that I like to take my iPad out of my cases when I’m reading before I fall asleep or playing COD Mobile. Every time I take the iPad out of the case, I end up taking a screenshot of my lock screen because the buttons are that tight.

Keyboard Functionality

When it comes to the keyboard, I’m guessing it’s BT 5.0 given that large connection distance I can achieve. It charges via USB-C which is handy as you can use the cable with the iPad to charge the keyboard.

The keyboard has backlight keys with three different brightness levels (4 if you’re Logitech and count off as a brightness level) and comes with 7 different colors and unlike the Slim Folio Go, my keyboard didn’t come with a high pitched whine.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Zagg includes 2 BT buttons, home button, lock screen, multitasking, keyboard language, on screen keyboard, music controls, volume and power. The only thing that’s missing is the search button which I really like on the Logitech Slim Folio Pro.

But honestly, a row of shortcut keys isn’t a good compromise for brutal buttons. It should be good buttons or shortcuts keys, not crappy buttons and shortcut keys

Typing Experience

With the 12.9 Inch keyboard, you get a full sized keyboard with full sized keys. That work! The buttons aren’t hard to press.

I measured out to be around 16.4mm which is on the bigger side of keys which is nice. The distance between the keys is the same as the average full sized keyboard.

Now earlier I mentioned that having the hinge built into the keyboard works better because it reduces the footprint of the keyboard. It makes it an inch smaller than the Slim Book Go and that makes a big difference when you’re doing things on your lap.

Versatility

I’ll be honest with you, it still feels weird saying nice things about a Zagg product. Their screen protectors are so ho-hum that it’s not even funny. But these keyboard cases are pretty good.

The hinge allows you to adjust the viewing angle accordingly, the hinge can be forced to tuck under things like other cables.
