BIG YMMV
I had this happen to me recently. You don't have to watch the video. This is what I tried according to the following apple stackexchange forum:
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/301404/macos-high-sierra-an-error-occurred-while-verifying-firmware

SETUP:
1. macbook 2009 with old spinning hard drive running OS 10.11 (el capitan.)
2. I upgraded the hard drive to SSD. Then downloaded update for OS 10.12 (sierra).
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683
3. Finally ran the installOS.dmg file.. and went to applications folder to run the installer for sierra
4. While it rebooted and was running the installation... it restarted... and displayed the infamous:
"macOS could not be installed on your computer"
"An error occurred while verifying firmware"
5. I googled and found the stackexchange forum post above.
6. Opened a terminal session and ran the commands:
diskutil verifyPermissions disk0
diskutil repairPermissions disk0

NOTE this is different from the stackexchange post. I believe the command they wrote was incorrect.

Good luck. As I mentioned in the video,.. you might just be able to use disk utility
a. Go to Applications
b. Go to Utilities
c. Go to Disk Utility
d. In disk utility, select your primary drive... and repair permissions on the drive. (I believe this might do the same thing as above).

As I mentioned,.. this only happened to me once. Let me know if you ran into the problem and what you did to fix it. THANKS.
