Hi there!

Here is MacBook Pro, Model A1502, 13 inches, early 2015, also known as MacBook Pro 12.1. It has 250 Gigabytes SSD, but today I will upgrade it to 1 Terabyte.

As you can see the write speed test shows 600 Megabytes on old system, but once system is freshly installed, this metric goes to twelve hundreds, the same as reading speed. So Apple's SSD is quite good at this machine still.

For the upgrade purpose I will use Western Digital Blue, SN570, M.2 NVME SSD, and m 2, to Apple 16 + 12 pins adapter. I didn't find Sintech adapter as it was suggested on mac rumors.com, but I bought similar one.

I used bootable Monterey USB flash drive to format new SSD and install operating system. Everything went well and system found new SSD without any problem.

MacBook pro 13 inches, early 2015 has PCIe version 2.0 with 4 lanes, so speed could be up to 2 Gigabytes per second. Even though new SSD supports such speed, the speed test has shown a bit higher values than Apple SSD. Later I've installed windows on this MacBook, and got even higher numbers during speed test as you can see, but still less than 2 Gigabytes per second maximum.

I've chosen Western Digital Blue SN570 as I didn't want to increase power consumption and temperature of the laptop. But in sleep mode new SSD has drained my battery during the night, so I've changed hibernate mode from 3 to 25 to turn off power from SSD. Yes, it awakes slower, about 1-2 seconds instead of half second, but the battery is safe now.

There is negative information about Western Digital SN570 on Mac Rumors com, but this is quite old. So if you want cheap, volumetric and even a bit faster SSD replacement for Macbook Pro 13 inches early 2015 then Western Digital Blue SN570 is pretty good choice.

Thanks for watching.
