You've probably already heard about installing an SSD (solid-state drive) to make a computer faster. This is another video on that topic. Neglecting a perfectly good computer because of one outdated component? Not on my watch.
And the HDD isn't useless. With a SATA to USB adapter, it can be used as a backup drive, a much more suitable purpose for an HDD these days.
This is not an instructional video. For instructions on how to change the hard drive in your computer, search them on Google, YouTube, or iFixit.
The fan control app I installed is Macs Fan Control: https://crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control/
where you can set the fan to adjust speed automatically based on the "CPU Diode" temperature. I set it to start speeding up at 45 °C and run at maximum speed at 75 °C, but you can adjust it to whatever you want. Other fan control apps are available.
Normally this Mac (and others) go well beyond 80 °C before speeding up the fan, which isn't healthy.
Music:
Unicorn Heads - "Beach Walk"
Nat Keefe & BeatMower - "Creeping Spiders"
