This is after I had screwed the SSD to the OWC little plastic adapter I had around the house
and drilled a hole for that back screw in the Apple rail.
Well the 2009 iMac still works. Even though I ruined the video cable socket
and had to solder it back on
Please please please REMOVE all cables.
There are 4 of them.
In this order:
1) Vertical sync - shortest. Pull straight out.
2) Video cable. Thick black cable. Pinch the socket at the cable end. Two levers you PINCH in and the cable just falls out of the socket.
3) Power cable for LCD in the display. Heavy cable on the right back from the cable in step 1)
4) A small two wire cable that plugs into the mother board - pulls straight out.
Take out ALL the cables before attempting SSD replacement. OR absolutely you will break a cable and be sorry.
