Willy's DELL OPTIPLEX 7020 Upgrade

On today’s episode of DIYWILLY, We take a look at what it takes to upgrade a DELL OPTIPLEX MT 7020. Originally this computer came with an I7 4770 processor, 16GB Memory, 240GB SSD and a 1T HDD. This was fine at first but I wanted to add a video card and being on a budget I purchased a AMD Radeon HD 8490 2GB DDR3 PCI Express x16 Desktop Video Card. This worked for editing but the system would run out of video memory. Next I upgraded to a MAXSUM Radeon RX550 4GB card and wow what a difference. This computer finally was doing some decent edits. How ever I found it still to be working too hard as my knowledge grew towards trying to make a better video. Now if only I could get better at filming….
So now the next upgrade of the 7020 will be a new case, 4790K processor and a XFX AMD Radeon RX580 Graphics card. With the new case comes better cable management and better cooling and also a chance for more upgrades in the future. The 4790K processor is just a little faster than the original 4770 and should prove to be better at those hard rendering tasks. As for the new XFX card well that should definitely help the older PCU with some of the video editing work.
