I upgrade my Dell XPS 13 9300 (2020) from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04.

https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-13-9300-Does-fingerprint-reader-work-on-linux/td-p/7514958

Steps I took:

# Plug in laptop.
# Backup data.
# Upgrade 18.04 to latest:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

# Edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades.
# Change "Prompt=never" to "Prompt=lts".

sudo do-release-upgrade -d
# Type 'y' each time it prompts to continue.

# 20.04 is now installed. Time to add the Dell repos. Unfortunately I can't use angle brackets in YouTube, but just follow the steps outlined by DanielNTX in the dell link above.

# After installing Howdy, fix the configuration by changing /dev/v4l/by-path/none to /dev/video0.
sudo howdy config

# Create face model
sudo howdy add

# Setup fingerprint reader by going to Settings, then Users. Select your user. Under Authentication & Login you should see Fingerprint Login Disabled. Click on that to Enable and follow the steps to setup.
