In today's video I'm going to give you a comprehensive, step by step upgrade guide for the Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. This video will cover all of the software and hardware changes that need to be considered from start to finish when doing any Unibody MacBook Pro upgrade. We start the MacBook restoration by creating a MacOS Catalina bootable USB drive, then move on to the most methodical and effective method for transferring your personal files to an external flash drive or hard drive. We then continue the MacBook Pro SSD upgrade guide by looking at the tools required for the upgrade and have a look inside the MacBook.
As well as performing the MacBook Pro hard drive install, we have a look at the other internal components and show how easy it is to upgrade RAM is our MacBook Pro 2012. When doing the MacBook Pro SSD install we learn which parts we need to save from the original HDD and whether the old drive can simply be thrown away. Once everything has been reconnected, the final stages of the 2012 MacBook Pro SSD upgrade involve reinstalling MacOS Catalina from our bootable USB drive and finally we learn how to enable TRIM on the MacBook. Knowing that you need to enable TRIM as the final step of this MacBook Pro upgrade is the most important step for ensuring a long lifespan for your Mac.
Considering that we are upgrading a 2012 MacBook Pro with the world's fastest SSD for a SATA III connection - a Samsung 860 Pro - we make sure we do some speed tests at the end too! We test the 2012 MacBook Pro with SSD vs HDD and test two variations of the MPB 2012 to see difference between i5 3210M vs i7 3520M. This 2012 MacBook Pro step by step upgrade guide is the only video you'll need to upgrade your MacBook Pro 2012.
