I like the Rhinoshield SolidSuit. I would say it’s Rhinoshield’s premium case ONLY because it comes in a variety of different finishes. My personal favourite? Is the normal classic backed case.
In fairness, the SolidSuit has actually dropped a couple of spots over the last year because some of the accessories you could find for the iPhone XS’s, don’t exist for the iPhone 11’s. Because there’s no need for them.
The standout feature for me, on the SolidSuit, are the buttons. They are the best buttons on any case, hands down.

At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage. Now while doing this isolation video series, I realized that my general tone for the reviews erred more on the negative and that’s because I was talking about products that, under normal circumstances, wouldn’t have made the cut for a standalone video.
BUT now that I’m doing daily reviews for the next few months, let’s go re-visit some of my favourites. I haven’t done a Solidsuit review in a couple of years and I figure, since I’m reviewing Rhinoshield NEW 3D Impact Screen protector, I might as well, use it with a Rhinoshield case. That review’s dropping this weekend. I hope.
The SolidSuit is made primarily from a material called Shockspread which boasts a tremendous amount of drop protection while keeping the case light and breezy. The case fits the iPhone quite tightly so keep that in mind if you’re a chronic case swapper. It does come off, just requires a bit of elbow grease.
Now unlike the great Playproof, the Solidsuit will slide around easier on both sides. The non-tapered edges are bearable with teh 11 Pro’s but I find the edge too bulky on the iPhone 11. Will Rhionshield jump onto the tapered edge band wagon? Who knows? The material they use works well with the thin edges on the S10 version of the case are quite nice.
The SolidSuit doesn’t have any odd quirks when it comes to wear and tear and this white case on my S10 has been on the device for 2 months now and it’s oddly still white.
When it comes to overall texture, I found that the Solidsuit falls between two extremes. Great texture and soap-like texture. The classic finishes have a rubbery feel to them which is great while the fancier finishes are incredibly slick.
For the iPHone 11’s, Rhionshield stopped making favorite finish, the cloth one but they still have the Oak, Carbon Fibre, Leather and Brushed steel.
When it comes to using your iPhone in the case, again, it’s all about the buttons. If you own an iPhone. The buttons on the iPhone version of the case aren’t physically attached to the case but float in the cutouts which means you keep the exact feel of the buttons. It’s so great.
Now these button designs have been around for a couple of years, closer to three and other companies like Tech 21 and Otterbox have started copying them.
Now the main reason why the Solidsuit’s scoring dipped a bit is because of the lack of camera accessories. For the iPhone X’s and XS’s, Rhinoshield a camera lens adapter that allowed you to mount a multitude of different lenses. BUT with the iPhone 11’s, between the normal, telephoto and wide, there’s really no need for these attachments is there?
The case edges are a little more noticeable than the average case but if you get the right screen protector, it won’t matter. I’m showing you a 3M privacy screen protector in this video...don’t get it. That review’s coming a few days.
I had no issues with port access, camera access and there is a spot for a wrist strap if you really need one. Now in the process of trying to find things to review, I found this Lifeproof wriststrap cable which is pretty awesome. That would go well with the SolidSuit.
Overall, I’m impressed with Evolutive labs, the company behind Rhinoshield. There Apple Watch cases are the best I’ve used and the impact skin is the only skin on the market that actually offers your device impact protection. Dbrand and Slickwraps basically are just 3M wraps whereas the Impact Skin has the same 3M wrap that sits on top of an impact absorbing layer of some sort.
When it comes to protection, the SolidSuit can take a hit.
