At first appearance, Apple's new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro appears to be exactly what so many people have been asking for: a high-quality keyboard shell with a trackpad that finally allows you to use the iPad as a laptop.

After putting it through its paces over the weekend, I can confidently say that it accomplishes that goal admirably. It's a well-made, attractive keyboard shell that's comfortable to type on and makes doing a lot of work on the iPad a lot easier — or at least more familiar. It's also pricey, with the 11-inch model starting at $299 and the 12.9-inch model at $349.
