I just today (10/2/20) received Samsung 980 PRO I per-ordered a while back, some online retailers aren't even selling these until October 10th, so I got lucky and got mine in today. I am comparing this 1 TB Samsung 980 Pro to my 512 GB 980 Pro and my 2 TB Samsung 970 EVO +. And in all honestly the difference if any, is minimal, which was expected because I am still stuck on PCI-E Gen 3 until Intel releases their new chips for my Z490 motherboard that will enable gen4 on my motherboard, and I presumed a bios update.


So all I can say if you are still on Gen 3 PCI-E, and already have a 970 Pro or 970 EVO+, then save your money for now. And I'll have to re-test later down the road when I can fully utilize the extra speed of this GEN 4 PCE-E SSD by Samsung then the extra boost in speeds should be apparent.
