Continuing on to Episode 2, titled: macOS Monterey…iCloud+ Safari.
I’ll show how, to setup and use some of the cool features and enhancements, added to iCloud+ and Safari, in macOS Monterey.
So, Let’s Get Started.
In order to take full advantage, with some of the features in Safari, like, how to hide your IP or email address, from trackers.
An iCloud+ account is required.
What is iCloud+?
Let’s break down the key differences, between iCloud & iCloud+
Basically, iCloud, is the standard free, 5GB cloud storage plan, received with every new Apple ID, sign up.
And, iCloud+, is just a rebrand, of the current, paid subscription plan, offered by Apple, for additional cloud storage.
With the following features added, at no additional cost to your current paid subscription plan.
Features added to iCloud+, are the following:
Private Relay, Hide My Email and HomeKit Secure Video.
The features, I’ll be looking at, in this episode, is Private Relay and Hide My Email.
Private Relay, ensures your browsing traffic is encrypted.
By hiding your IP address and Safari browsing activity, from network providers and websites.
And,
Hide My Email, allows you to share a unique random address, that forwards messages to your personal inbox.
Furthermore; it should be noted, to use the Hide My Email feature in Safari, Two-Factor Authentication, has to be activated.
I’ve included a link, on how to Activate, Two-Factor Authentication for your Apple ID, in the description below.
How To Upgrade to iCloud+
Therefore, to upgrade to an iCloud+ subscription plan, in macOS Monterey.
Launch, System Preferences.
Then, click on the Apple ID icon, shown here.
From the Private Relay item, click on the Upgrade button, and select a subscription plan.
That’s all there is to it.
