A quick unboxing and first impressions of Apple's MacBook Pro with the M1 chip, a system introduced in their first lineup of ARM-based Macs. These released in November of 2020.

I got the silver finish with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid state drive. It cost $1,579.00 from the Apple Education Store before tax. Outside of the Education Store, it has an MSRP of $1,699 before tax.

They are currently doing a promotion in the Education Store for people buying Macs or iPads for college. You can choose between free AirPods, $40 AirPods with the wireless charging case, or $90 AirPods Pro. I went with the Pros, and I've been enjoying them as well. Didn't unbox them here because they arrived two days after we ordered the Mac.
