You should also install Cindori Trim Enabler https://www.cindori.org/software/trimenabler/ or Chameleon SSD Optimizer http://chameleon.alessandroboschini.com/ after the install to extend the life of the drive and gain even higher read/write speed.
For OSX 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) through 10.10.3 (Yosemite) only: You should install Chameleon SSD Optimizer:

For OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) and higher run trimforce by typing the following command into the Terminal window and then hit Return: sudo trimforce enable
