Apple hit the scale properties of the regular iPhone 12 to give us an iPhone 12 Mini. & unlike other flagship miniatures, the iPhone 12 Mini is full flagship muscle all the way.
It is a 5.4inch OLED panel living in a body that was used to seeing 4.7inch or lesser sized screens.
And yet it has the same flagship A14 Bionic chip that is powering the iPhone 12 Pro Max as well.
And it has the same camera configuration as the bigger iPhone 12.
So that leaves just two concerns to address, battery life & price-value-comparison.
