How to Copy a HDD to SSD in Mac OSX

This is just a simple video about how to restore (clone) your old Hard Drive onto a new Solid State Drive using Mac OSX. This of course can be done on any volume, Solid State Drive or Hard Drive, back up or main boot drive.

I hope this helps. I know a lot of us are trying to fix up and transition to new gear. I figured if you are trying to clone a drive in Mac OSX, for any reason, I’d try to help clear up the steps on doing so.

You could be cloning a drive for a number of reasons. The reason I was cloning this drive was because I was swapping out a decade old HDD (that was a boot disk) for a new SSD to make this computer usable. The Owner of the computer asked that everything remain the way it was. He didn’t want a clean install of the operating system. He simply wanted the computer to work. The hdd was so slow that you would click on something and it could take 10 to 20 seconds before the computer would register the click. Typing a paper was impossible because you could only add a character every 10-20 seconds.

If you are a windows user, I recommend the software “Macrium Reflect.” It’s a feature rich, fast, reliable, powerful and free software. But their sales reps are relentless. I have about 12 voice mails from the dude asking me to purchase the full version. (The full version has features for remote monitoring servers, I don’t need that).

Hi, I’m Will. I have a passion for music, artists and DJs. This talk show includes everything from DJ sets, album reviews, artist interviews, jam sessions to anything I feel like doing.

I’m a DJ that taught myself at home, by watching YouTube. I DJed a friend’s wedding, fell in love with being a Wedding DJ immediately. Then applied to become an assistant for a large multi-op DJ company in Illinois. Later I moved to Arkansas and found CAE. I love my job.

Based on my experience, I want to help you become a better DJ, buy better equipment and turn your love of music into a career.

I love making videos, so I’ll post videos that I make for my friends, my boss, heck I’ll even posts vlogs or cover songs.

I hope to inspire you to pursue your passion. Creating videos, music, and technology are my passions.

I don’t post very often because I work a “60 hour per week” job, DJ on the weekends, I try to post a podcast every week, and I have a beautiful girlfriend and a dog. Forgive me if I’m not consistent in my content or schedule. I strive to do better each and every video.

Thanks for watching! Let me know if these videos help you. The encouragement is much appreciated.
