On the new iPhone SE 2020 smartphone, the fingerprint detection is basically done through a steel ring surrounding the button. This steel ring is in-charge of telling the Touch ID system to start reading your fingerprint the moment you place it on the Home button. The sensor then analyzes the fingerprint information to see if it matches any of the registered fingerprints in the phone’s database.
