Hey kids and parents! Have you ever wondered how a computer works on the inside? It's called "digital logic", and we're going to learn it the fun way...by building computers out of marbles! Each Wednesday I'll release a new video with a new digital logic circuit you can build with the GraviTrax marble run system. GraviTrax calculators = GraviCalc!

Lesson 6: How to Count Like a Computer. Build this week's GraviCalc marble track to make a computer counting machine out of marbles! And we'll compare the base 2 number system that computers use with the base 10 number system that people use.

Parents, this lesson teaches kids the binary number system. It is appropriate for kids who are comfortable with the concepts of place values and multiplication. This lesson is a discovery lesson. Kids may not get it at first, but the marble run is designed to help them learn through play, and next week we will continue on this topic, and the concepts should sink in by the end of next week's lesson. This lesson requires only a single GraviTrax starter set, but next week's lesson requires two starter sets. If you were thinking about buying a second starter set anyway, now is a great time to do so to prepare for next week's lesson. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
