This lesson is part 2 in our series talking about critical care lab values. In this lesson we take a look at those important labs that we send off in our blue top tube, our coagulation studies. We frequently use these tests to help diagnosis and treat various clotting disorders, which are common in critically ill patients, as well as to help monitor therapeutic goals for purposeful anticoagulation for various treatment modalities. Because of the frequency of their use, it is vital that you have a good understanding of these tests and their normal values, to help to be able to better care for your patients in the ICU.
