That was a rough start to the video. Did the iPad survive? I do the follow up at the end!

With all things considered, the Logitech Slim Folio Pro is a great keyboard case for the iPad. From my perspective, it's the only case worthy of being an actual alternative to the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio.

This $130 dollar keyboard for the 12.9 Inch is a well designed product. From my perspective, if you’re looking for an alternative to Apple’s own Smart Keyboard Folio, this Slim Folio Pro is the only alternative.

The iPad sits in a case with large corners. The proper install procedure is to slide the iPad into the case from the top. The top corners of the case are actually thicker than the bottom ones to accommodate the thickness difference in the keyboard.

The edge design may not be compatible with certain screen protectors though I was able to use the Spigen GlasTr with this case, the Moshi iVisor AG and the Paperlike screen protector.

The USB-C port is easily accessible since there is no case there but the buttons are tough to press. It’s actually quite hard to press the power button with one-hand. It’s a two handed operation or a one-handed, pinch your ipad screen and push.

Using the iPad by itself is unwieldy in this Logitech Keyboard case. Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio folds over tightly whereas the Slim Folio Go feels like you’re trying to sandwich two things together all the time.

The Apple Pencil has one place to live in this setup and is kept in place during transit by the magnetic latch.

This magnetic latch does a good job of keeping everything together when you’re not using the iPad and won’t shame you for not having an Apple pencil as the hinge on the latch adjusts to whatever is under the latch.

Now the coolest thing about this case is the fact that the edge of the case that the iPad sits in attaches magnetically to the keyboard piece and it makes for a very sturdy and stable platform to work from. You almost forgot the hinge of the case feels quite flimsy.

The case isn’t going to slide around easily as the finish of the Slim Folio Go is similar to Apple’s own cases. It’s a bit smoother but it’s close. It’s also going to wear similar to Apple’s own cases as well.

Keyboard Stats

Logitech uses Bluetooth Low Energy but it isn’t explicitly stated but I believe the keyboard has BT 5.0 rather than a 4.x as I was able to use the keyboard at a distance of over 50 ft. BUT it doesn’t show up in the battery widget which is odd.

The Slim Folio Go technically has a 3 Month battery at 2 hours of usage a day and can be charged by the iPad if you really need to.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Now unlike Apple’s own keyboards and like everybody else’s keyboards, the Slim Folio Go has a row of short cut keys.

Now apparently what I think are useful shortcut keys are quite different than what other people think are useful BUT this is the first iPad keyboard I’ve used that has a search button and it’s even better than the multi-tasking button that the Zagg product has and definitely more useful than the keyboard language button found on the Brydge products.

Typing experience

When it comes to the typing experience, as I said before, this is the best keyboard I’ve used for the iPad, outside of Apple’s own products. The buttons are 15.4mm in width with a distance of 18.3mm between the center of the keys. The keys on the magic keyboard are a full mm larger.

So I guess you can type accurately even with small keys as long as you can press them easily.

How is Brydge still around…

Again, I felt like myself, typing on this keyboard.

When it comes to versatility, there isn’t much. Unlike the Zagg’s products that allow you to remove the iPad from the keyboard or the Brydge products and the infinite number of viewing angles, the Logitech Slim Folio Go is just a keyboard case for the iPad. And that’s not a bad thing because it does the job exceptionally well.
