This bright blue case? It’s the Tech 21 Remix in Motion. It’s an Apple Exclusive. Some of you eagle eyed viewers spotted this video in my might about how dumb camera lens screen protectors.

I like this case. The soft rubber coating on this case is top notch which is something I can’t say for Tech 21’s other cases. The design of the case is also quite nice as it doesn’t look like your typical case.

How does it stack up against other cases? Overall, the Remix in Motion is in the Top ⅓ of all the cases I’ve reviewed for the iPhone 11.

At MREH, Monty and I do our videos based on actual usage. Use a product. Rate the product. Compare the product. Because anything else would be the equivalent of believing a food critic who doesn’t like food.

This light, thin case fits the iPhone surprisingly well which to me, is an anomaly because Tech 21 cases are usually quite loose. I almost mistook this case to be a single layered case but it’s double layered as there is a thin PC shell whose edges are lined with a TPE material. I think. The overall design is very similar to the PureClear which is a dual-layered case.

The case won’t slide around easily on the front or the back. As I said a minute ago, I like the texture of this case. It feels good in my hand as the soft rubber texture isn’t aggressive or completely slick.

This Tech 21 case is surprisingly thin and light. This Remix in Motion case weights only 30g which is almost as light as the Fusion X I just reviewed for a device that’s 30% smaller. My gripe with Tech 21 cases is that the case edges are too low in my opinion as having a screen protector on your device ~almost makes the device flush with the case edge. Not great for normal edge protection.

From a wear and tear perspective, the case isn’t going to show fingerprinting at all. Or face grease. BUT it will scuff easier than other cases. A small drop on brick resulted in a corner looking pretty mangy already.

When it comes to functionality, your iPhone is going to shine in the Tech 21 case. The buttons are top notch. Right up there with the Rhinoshield cases, the OG of removable buttons and the Otterbox Symmetry. I’d say the Catalyst Impact is up there as well, just not at the same level.

Unlike the EvoCheck, Tech 21 doesn’t include a set of buttons for you to play with which makes sense I guess given that the color of buttons was chosen specifically for the the print on the back of the case.

The low case edges do not get in the way of screen access, the port are large enough for whatever cables you want to use and the camera cutout doesn’t get in the way of the camera. As a side note, on this iPhone 11 Pro Max, I’ve got the Zagg camera glass protectors and watch what you can do with just a bit of pressure on them. Nice work Zagg.
When it comes to one-handed usage, despite my love for the texture of the case, it’s still slick enough that it may fall out of your hand every once in a while. Which isn’t great...at least it has 8ft worth of drop protection right?

Now Tech 21 has always had above average claims in terms of drop height. But these companies fail to mention that the drop height is for corners drops, not the face. The older Evo Checks where quite loose and would come off corners relatively easily, the newer Evo Check is better BUT on the Remix in Motion the lower than average case edges won’t do much for your iPhone’s screen.

Now before I put a few dents in this pretty case, I will note that there is a ring on the inside of the case that will minimize dust and debris from getting between the iPhone and case BUT the back of the case doesn't have the microfibre back that other $50 dollar cases do so make sure you check the iPhone every once in a while to make sure nothing is scratching the back. There is a gap between the case and the iPhone so it may not be a big deal BUT still worth pointing out.
