2020 has changed the Apple Event forever, which will undoubtedly lead to more frequent Apple Events multiple times a year to capitalize on the hype. The recent Apple Silicon event showcased the brilliance of Apple's marketing team. In just the past 3 months Apple has had 3 different keynotes, the September 15th "Time Flies" event, the October 13th "Hi, Speed" event, and the November 10th "One More Thing" event. By having these events so close together, and spaced out strategically, Apple was able to build up unprecedented levels of hype that will make them billions of dollars.
The September 15th 2020 Apple Event released the iPad Air 4, iPad 8, Apple Watch Series 6, and the Apple Watch SE. Less than a month later the October 13th 2020 Apple Event released the HomePod Mini and the new iPhone 12 lineup. Once again, in less than a month, Apple had their November 10th 2020 event where the released the new Apple Silicon Macs with the M1 chip. Taking a look at the Google Trends page we can see that they are perfectly capturing hype cycles in 4 week periods, in a critical time like the holiday season, which is paramount for business to make most of their money.
As we eagerly await hands on reviews for the M1 MacBook Air, M1 MacBook Pro, and M1 Mac Mini, we are currently building up to another peak for Apple's hype train. I would guess that once Apple sees the sales numbers from this years products, they may consider sticking with this strategy in the future by holding many smaller Apple Events, instead of one big Keynote.
