UK’s Ofcom bans network locked phone sales
From December next year cellular providers in the UK will not be allowed to sell handsets locked to their networks making it harder to change down the line.

This is primarily to encourage competition between networks on pricing as many people are put off from switching, but could also reduce e-waste as those wanting to change networks will no longer have the stumbling block of network locked phones to get past.

While unlocking the phones is not generally expensive, it is inconvenient and not all consumers may know it is even possible.

New Stars sign to Apple TV+
Apple TV+ Announces Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan’s Platonic series, as well as signing Jon Stewart to host a new current affairs show on the platform.

This all aligns with Apple’s extension of the free Apple TV+ Subscription that now runs to the end of January 2021, when more of Apple’s own shows will be back for their second seasons after the Covid delays, as well as Apple One incorporating Apple TV+ as a part of its service finishing it’s own presumed free trials.

First half 2021, According to Luke Miani this could well be the 12 Core SOC we’ve been hearing rumours about and based on Apple’s A14 5nm process. The A14T, codenamed Mt Jade is likely to be intended for desktop platforms with active cooling like Mac mini or iMac, but could make its way to high end notebooks too.
