Located next to a train station in Luxembourg, this studio from the 60s needed a contemporary makeover.
An investor wanted to renovate a newly purchased flat of 33m2/355ft2 and put it as a rental. The main selling point of this place is that it is well connected to public transportation.
However, due to it’s size, it would be difficult to present it to a market that is not used to tiny places. And so here’s what i have done:
The aim was to develop a functional layout without changing structural elements. So I removed the partition of the kitchen to create an open space.
As the Luxembourgish market is new to tiny homes, plenty of storage has been included in the design. This enables this studio to remain clutter-free, thus maintaining a spacious feel.
Then I put a vertical storage unit that serves as a main storage unit for the entire apartment.
In order to keep renovation costs down, I kept the plumbing in the bathroom and the kitchen. All I did was modernising all of it.
Finally, I added a dining and living area and a bedroom area.
Similar to my previous work, I provided the client with high-detail documentation for ensuring a smooth execution.
