10 Years of DESIGN - Original Apple iPad VS iPad Pro 11'' - 4K detail view - Speed comparaison

Here It is! For the 10th anniversary of the original Apple iPad and Steve Jobs presenting it, I wanted to compare it to his little brother, with is the brand new Apple iPad Pro 11'' (eleven inches).

The design is so similar! That's very interesting!

The first-generation iPad is a tablet computer designed and marketed by Apple Inc. as the first in the iPad lineup. The device features an Apple A4 SoC, a 9.7" touchscreen display, and, on certain variants, the capability of accessing cellular networks. Using the iOS operating system, the iPad can play music, send and receive email and browse the web. Other functions, which include the ability to play games and access references, GPS navigation software and social network services can be enabled by downloading apps.

The device was announced and unveiled on January 26, 2010 at a media conference. On April 3, 2010, the Wi-Fi variant of the device was released in the USA, followed by the release of the "Wi-Fi + 3G" variant on April 30. On May 28, 2010, it was released in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

The device received positive reviews from various technology blogs and publications. Reviewers praised the device for its wide range of capabilities and labelled it as a competitor to laptops and netbooks. Some aspects were criticized, including the closed nature of the operating system and the lack of support for the Adobe Flash multimedia format. During the first 80 days, 3 million iPads were sold. By the launch of the iPad 2, Apple sold more than 15 million iPads.

On March 2, 2011, Apple announced the iPad 2 and reduced the price of the first-generation iPad.



The iPad Pro family is a line of iPad tablet computers designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc., that runs the iOS and iPadOS mobile operating systems. Its current generation is available in two screen sizes, 11-inch (28 cm) and 12.9-inch (33 cm), each with four options for internal storage capacities: 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

The first iPad Pro, the 12.9-inch version, was announced on September 9, 2015 and released on November 11, 2015. It is larger than all previous iPad models and the first iPad tablet to feature LPDDR4 RAM. The 12.9-inch tablet was later followed by the smaller 9.7-inch version, which was announced on March 21, 2016, and released on March 31 that same year.

On June 5, 2017, the second-generation iPad Pro was announced, which features A10X Fusion processors, with storage options of 64 GB and 512 GB. Upgraded displays include a 10.5-inch version to replace the 9.7-inch model, while the 12.9-inch version was refreshed. Following this announcement, both models of the first-generation iPad Pro were discontinued.

The third generation of iPad Pro was announced on October 30, 2018, and was made available in two screen sizes: 11-inch (28 cm) and 12.9-inch (33 cm). They feature full-screen displays, with the 11-inch model replacing the 10.5-inch model of the previous generation. They also feature up to 1 TB of storage and Face ID using a sensor array on the top bezel which, unlike iPhone models featuring Face ID, can unlock the iPad in any orientation. Due to not having Touch ID, these devices are the first iPads to lack a physical button on the front.

The fourth generation of iPad Pro was announced on March 18, 2020, with the same screen sizes of the previous generation. It offers a redesigned camera modules, A12Z processors, 128 GB minimum storage, and support for the Magic Keyboard with a trackpad that is sold separately. While two different screen size options have been released side by side at every release, they are no longer in the same "Generation". This is because Apple changed screen sizes for each release of the smaller screen option until the 2020 releases. Each release with a new screen size was officially considered the "first generation". Apple has stuck with the 11" version now for two releases, we are now officially on the 2nd Gen 11" iPad Pro. The sizes went from 9.7" in the 1st release, to 10.5" in the second release, and changed again from 10.5" to 11" in the 3rd and remained at 11" for the 4th release of an iPad Pro. The larger screen (12.9") model has remained at the same size throughout the life of the iPad Pro thus far so for that size we are on the 4th Generation of the 12.9" iPad Pro as of 2020.
