Brand New ACS-64 Electric Engine on the California Zephyr

The eastbound "California Zephyr" speeds through the town of Agency, Iowa on a slightly rainy June 29, 2013. Second out on Amtrak train #6 is Amtrak's newest locomotive. This is AMTK 602, an Amtrak Cities Sprinter or ACS-64 electric engine built by Siemens in Sacramento, California. This is the first time an ACS-64 has made it east of Colorado. 602 is on its way to the Northeast Corridor for testing. It is adorned with decals of the skylines of the largest cities on that line. From right to left, they are Boston, Massachusetts, New York City, New York, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.
