An Amtrak train traveling from San Antonio to Chicago carrying 203 passengers collided with a truck near Wilmington, Illinois on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries, the railroad said. The Texas Eagle, also known as Train No 22, hit a tractor trailer on the tracks about 50 miles south of Chicago, at around 4 p.m., said Amtrak spokesman Craig Schulz. Schulz said there were no serious injuries to passengers, but he had no immediate information about the truck driver. The truck was carrying over 70,000 pounds of bacon. After the collision, the trailer was separated from the truck’s cab. The trailer overturned and dumped its contents all over the tracks. The truck’s cab ended up on the other side of the train.None of the train cars left the track as a result of the collision. The train’s 203 passengers were taken to Chicago by bus after waiting at a local high school while tracks were being checked for damages, Schulz said.
